Q-tip Skeleton - Happy Halloween!

Super cool and fun monster treat bags!

What you will need

• Brown paper bags
• Construction paper
• Pipe cleaners
• Markers
• Scissors
• Pencil n eraser
• Wiggly eyes(optional)
• Glue

Measure the side of bag
Cut colorful construction paper to cover one side of the bag. Glue n stick. Draw, cut eyes n teeth from leftover scraps of construction paper. Monsters are fun and  have no set expressions and number of eyes. Let your creativity soar!

I did a project like this for Halloween treat bags with kindergartners last year. They had loads of fun! If you are doing this project with a big group of small children, its HIGHLY recommended that you cut scraps for the facial expressions before hand and let kids choose. They can decorate using crayons, markers, wiggly eyes and other crafting supplies available. They loved it!

As the festivities are beginning around the world the hearts are poured with so much excitement. This year seems to be flying by fast. Stores are already putting up Christmas decors and sales, no wonder if we see Easter sales in January itself. I am glad the birds and animals do not follow the store promotions or they will be confused too.

Talk of a festivity and the aisles get filled with million ways to decorate and celebrate with tons of candies, colors and decorations. Isn’t it true how we all are getting so conditioned commercially and losing the spirit of what makes the festivals important. What’s even worrisome is the amount of waste that will be produced after few hours of glee.

We all see, hear and read about landfills, global warming, sugar intake, plastic hazards etc. It has become another yada yada story. So many times when I am writing and discussing the topic even my husband says please not landfills again!

Sustainable and green living is not a hard thing to achieve if we all can take care of our share of responsibilities and think of greater good. Things sell because there is a demand for them and only we are responsible for creating them. With each buy we are making a choice and then the choice is making us and our environment.

The best thing is each day, each moment and each buy provides us with this wonderful opportunity to promote healthy, eco-alternatives that are not only good for the planet but also teach our children to care for themselves and environment.

Even the simple things like sending online invites, reusing costumes and swapping, avoiding disposable cutlery, saying no to non-recyclable plastic and recycling the one that we can, buying healthy treats, reusing or making reusable treat bags can make such a huge change and make us feel accomplished for our unconditional contribution.

This month’s project is boo alien candy wrapper. They are fun, easy and joyful!

For this what you will need is

• Paper napkin

• Pipe cleaner

• Wiggly eyes ( you can also make eyes on paper using markers)

• Glue

• Marker

• Beads

• Scissors

1. Cut pipe cleaners 3 inches long.

2. Insert beads and stick wiggly eyes on the ends of pipe cleaner using glue.

3. Place candy in middle of paper napkin.

4. Twist and roll the ends of pipe cleaner in the back.

5. Using markers draw the eyes and mouth.

Pumpkins - super fun and creative fall art project using finger paints!

What you will need

• Card stock
• Finger paints
• Crayons
• Paint brush
• Paper plate 

1. Pour paint in a paper plate. 
2. Generously dip index finger in paints and make impressions on card stock for pumpkins. 
3. For stems, dip paint brush in green paint and dab. You can also use markers or crayons.
4. Touch up using crayons.

Crafty butterfly - Reuse idea using scraps of paper!

All you need is

• Scraps of paper (you can use wrapping paper, magazines, art projects etc.)
• Pipe cleaner
• Lollipop

1. Cut 2 papers with different patteren in same size squares.
2. Starting from corner of square start pleating the paper into an accordion fold or zig zag fold (like you are making a fan) till you reach the opposite corner.
3. When done folding both papers, tie them together from center using pipe cleaner. Insert a small heart shape lollipop in the pipe cleaner. you can also stick the lollipop on a small heart paper using tape.

Bells are not required but my daughter really wanted a jingly butterfly :)) you can use beads too.

On the other butterfly my daughter wrote with black marker and painted colorful hearts. It looks really good.

For hug bug candy creeper all you need is

• Pipe cleaner
• Wiggly eyes
• Beads
• Glue
• Candy
• Tape
• Scissors

1. Cut the pipe cleaner in required size.
2. Insert beads and stick wiggly eyes on the ends of pipe cleaner using glue.
3. Stick candy in center using tape.
4. Wrap the pipe cleaner around the candy.

Booo alien sucker and candy wrapper - Super fun Halloween Crafts!!

For this booooo alien candy wrapper all you need is

• Round candy or sucker
• Paper napkin
• Pipe cleaner
• Wiggly eyes
• Marker
• Beads (optional)

1. Insert beads and stick wiggly eyes on the ends of pipe cleaner.
2. Place candy or sucker in middle of paper napkin and tie tightly using pipe cleaner.
3. Twist and roll the ends of pipe cleaner in the back.
4. Using Marker draw eyes and mouth:))

Creepy candy bugs - Super fun Halloween crafts!!

Make trick or treating even more fun with these boo creepy candy bugs!!

All you need is

• Construction paper, cardboard or foam
• Pipe cleaners
• Wiggly eyes
• Glue
• Tape
• Markers
• Beads and sequence (optional)
• Scissors

1. Using scissors cut the foam in circle or desired shape
2. Cut the pipe cleaners in equal size and stick them using tape on one side of foam.
3. Turn pipe pipe cleaners ends outwards to raise and balance the bug.
4. Turn first two ends of pipe cleaners upwards in front and stick wiggly eyes using glue.
5. Using markers draw circles on bug. You can also use sequence and beads to add more details to bug. 
6. Stick candy on top using tape!!

Let the bugs rock the rocks!

It’s the time of year when temperatures are climbing up, trees have turned lush green, sun is shining and the sounds of grins and giggles is in the air. It’s time for summer vacation. I am a mother of two beautiful and active girls and it keeps scrambling in my mind what activities we will be doing to keep them busy.

Painting Rocks is my favorite pick for summer. It’s fun and creative project with so many possibilities. It’s a wonderful group activity and best of all keeps the imagination going. Wait till you discover all new species.

All you need is

•  Rocks 
•  Paints
•  Paint brush
•  wiggly eyes 
•  Markers(optional)
•  Sequins and buttons(optional) 
•  Glue 
•  Pipe cleaners

Clean the rocks with water and let them dry. Paint the rocks. When dry stick wiggly eyes, pipe cleaners, sequence, markers and glitters using glue to add more bugs like effects (legs, antennas etc.)

You can also make frogs, spiders, grass hoppers and honey bees.

Use your Imagination and let the bugs rock the rocks!

Halloween Bookmarks - Boo tree, fall Leaves,scary bat and a happy pumpkin!

All you need is

• Cardboard
• Colored construction paper
• Plastic eyes
• Glue
• Marker(optional)

Cut  paper in desired shapes. Using glue, stick the paper and eyes on cardboard and its done!
